About the Workshop

The Workshop is an immersion program for adult amateurs in the study of string quartet literature.  Players with the requisite skills and experience are welcome.  We offer a challenging yet supportive environment where participants will 1) study two works, to be prepared in advance, with an assigned group, under the guidance of a coach (for possible performance); 2) enlarge their knowledge of the literature and sharpen their sight-reading skills through supervised reading sessions with different groups; and 3) play music of their choice in informal “pick-up” sessions during the evening.  Enrollment is limited to 12 groups; interested musicians are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible.  A $100.00 deposit must be included, which will be refunded if we cannot place an applicant.  The application deadline is April 15; participants will be notified of assignments by early May.  The Workshop begins at 6:30 p.m. on June 21 and ends at 12:30 p.m. on June 25 (if absolutely necessary, participants may leave late in the evening of June 18, with notice).
